Description

Victorian robin’s egg blue enamel locket pendant in 14k gold and seed pearls. 

This antique locket pendant from the late 19th Century is decorated with a Robin’s egg blue enamel lattice design and 9 seed pearls adorned on it.The set is topped with a stylized floral bow adorned with 8 seed pearls. The circular outline is finely chiseled with a leaves’ decoration. The back presents a glazed locket compartment (which does not seem to be able to open). Probably English work. Two scallop hallmarks. 

Robin egg blue, also called eggshell blue, or lost egg blue, is a shade of cyan (greenish-blue color), approximating the shade of the eggs laid by the American robin. The first recorded use of robin egg blue as a color name in English was in 1873
