Antique earrings

Antique earrings called “dormeuses” in French (sleepers) are a type of earrings that hang slightly over the lobe. They were invented at the end of the 19th century to allow women to sleep with their earrings on. These earrings are sometimes accompanied by longer pendants, which can be added or removed to have evening or daytime earrings. They were very popular in the early 20th century.
