Bangle bracelets are rigid bracelets, made of gold elements that fit the shape of the wrist. There are many models of bangle bracelet that can be very thick or very thin. In the 19th century they were often found in pairs, worn on both wrists. You also find the cuff bracelet which is a large bangle.
Victorian garnet bangle bracelet in 18k rose gold. Bangle bracelet featuring a central element set with four large cabochon almandine garnets, topped with a cross set with 18 fine pearls. Garnet bangle bracelet in 18-karat rose gold (750) and silver. This delicate bracelet forms a wire bangle, adorned with a circular element made of gold and silver serving as the clasp. The clasp is set with a significant cabochon garnet and features scroll motifs. The central element dates back to the 19th century and has been subsequently assembled into this fine bracelet.
Hallmarked with “charançons” (french state hallmarks for 18-karat gold) and a partially legible maker’s mark.

Clover bangle Bracelet in 9 karat (375 millième) rose gold. This vintage bangle features a border of three-leaf clovers alternating with round peridots. The clovers are set with half pearls, and the five peridots are placed in a closed setting with a serrated pattern. The border is pierced, giving the piece a delicate appearance. This antique bracelet dates back to the early 20th century, during the Art Nouveau period, and originates from England.
Stamped with 9K and 375 hallmarks (English hallmarks for 9-karat gold). Other hallmarks are illegible.

Antique pinchbeck bracelet and cut steel. Large antique bracelet in brown fabric imitating hair, with a large rectangular clasp in gilded steel called pinchbeck. The clasp is decorated with faceted and riveted cut steel. Antique bracelet from the early 19th century, circa 1830. Hair was a popular material at the time and some jewelers made fabric jewelry, less expensive, imitating braided hair.
Victorian cuff bracelet in yellow gold 18 karats (750) and silver. Antique bracelet articulated and decorated with openwork friezes. This bracelet is decorated with a round silver element on which are set sixteen rose-cut diamonds in a star pattern, surrounded by nine fine pearls. The structure is worked in openwork. The silver element can be removed by means of a pin that fixes it (or detaches it) from the bracelet. The jewel can thus be worn in a simple or more elaborate way. The bracelet is decorated with arabesques and scrolls in silver on black background. It is rigid. The clasp and the hinge are decorated with chiselling. A chain holding an anchor runs through a third of the bracelet. Bracelet from the end of the 19th century, Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Did you know it ? The niello is a goldsmith’s skill which consists in applying on gold, silver or copper, a black substance in inlay. This substance is called niello (from the Latin nigellus meaning “blackened”), a black metallic sulfide that includes copper, silver, lead or borax.

A cabochon-cut sapphire adorns the head of the reptile, it is surrounded by seventeen rose-cut diamonds in a white gold setting. The eyes of the snake are suggested by incisions.
