Mono earring paste stone in pink gold 18 karats and silver. Victorian earring set with a glass on paillon (stone of Rhine). Single earring of the 19th century. Mismatched jewel.
Goldsmith’s hallmark illegible, boar hallmark, jewel tested with 18k gold acids Dimensions : 17 x 7 mm
Note: the fastening system works, the buckle goes through the back of the earlobe and closes at the front.
Condition: scratches from use, earring sold alone.

270,00€Victorian French locket pendant in silver plated. An enamelled ceramic plate adorns the center of the pendant. It represents a woman in traditional regional costume, with her head bowed and her hands crossed, in front of the village church. Her traditional costume let us think that the woman is from Alsace, East of France, because of the large black bow which was worn here at this period.
Red glass stones surround the figure in a set of filigree. At the back, the locket opens to hide a lock of hair or a photograph of the loved one.

390,00€Georgian mourning hair ring in 9k pink gold. An antique locket ring keeping a braid of hair enclosed behind glass crystal. It is framed by a halo of 16 seed pearls and the settings is formed by two separated strands adorned with an openwork pattern. Jewel from the beginning of the 19th century, circa 1810-1830.
Trefoil hallmark (French State hallmark for 9-karat gold)

Hair jewellery was very popular in the 18th and 19th centuries. Jewellery with compartments made it possible to keep a lock of hair of a lover or a missing person (later it will be the photograph). It can be a medallion or a ring for example. There are also jewels made from hair, such as necklaces, chains, bracelets and rings. These hair jewels are worked like textiles: they are woven, embroidered, twisted. A whole craft industry developed around this new fashion, which lasted until the end of the 19th century.
