Rare navette ring in 18k yellow gold, set with citrine on foils. French regional jewel.

Description

French regional citrine ring in yellow gold 18 karats. Ring centered of a facetted oval foiled citrine, set in closed setting. The ring is decorated with fine geometric patterns. The shoulders are treated in openwork. These citrines are called “Catalan Brazils”, they are from Perpignan area. Ring from the middle of the 20th century, South East of France. Regional jewellery.

More information: at this period, the stones most used in Roussillon are garnets, citrines or Aurillac topazes. A red metallic paper was placed under the stone to give it changing light reflections, these stones are called “Brésils”, also called “Oli i Vinagre” in Roussillon, France.
