Antique mourning locket pendant in 18 karat yellow gold. Important locket pendant enamelled in black – including the bail – and set with two onyx plates. The medallion opens and bears the inscriptions “souvenir de mon excellente mère” (in memory of my excellente mother) and “26 septembre 1869”. A photo and a lock of hair can be slipped inside the jewel and protected by glass vent. It is a jewel of feeling, a jewel of mourning to remember a loved one who has passed away.
