Description
Rare secret pendant magnifying glass in yellow gold 18 karats. Jewel with system which conceals a magnifying glass and can be carried in pendant. The jewel consists of a handle finished by a circle where you can pass a chain. The upper part swivels, revealing a small magnifying glass. The jewel is delicately decorated with scrolls and on the cylinder of the magnifying glass are the partially erased inscriptions “Breveté” and “L . MCRS” or “L… NCRS” “An”.
It is noted that the magnifying glass shows an inverted image, it is possible to assume that it was used to decipher encoded messages, written backwards. Antique magnifying glass pendant from the second half of the 19th century, antique French jewel.
