Rare bracelet from the beginning of the 19th century, adorned with 17 foiled Perpignan garnets, French regional work.

Description

Garnet Perpignan bracelet in 18 karat pink gold, a lovely articulated bracelet adorned with 17 foiled Perpignan garnets. Each has pink-red colour, very unique and typical of these jewels, with different hue in the light of the sun or in shadows. We speak of “perpignan” cut or rose-cut for these stones faceted on the top but flat below. The gold structure is finely decorated with triangular V-shaped figures on the edges, the bottom each setting is rounded. Safety chain and discreet clasp, concealed under a garnet. Regional jewel from the beginning of the 19th century, France.

Hallmark on the clasp illegible.

Diameter of the stones : 0.8 cm. 

Note: some settings with indentations; slight wears on the stones, a stone with a small chip, visible only with a magnifying glass.  

Weight : 15.26 gr. 

Foiled a stone is an ancient technique consisting of placing a sheet of metal under the stone, at the bottom of the setting, in order to accentuate the shine. The cutting and manufacturing method of these jewelry dates back to the 18th century, in the South of France.
