    Art Deco cluster opal ring in platinum (950). This antique cluster ring features a central cabochon-cut opal set in a close setting, surrounded by twelve old-cut diamonds. The opal shows vibrant play-of-color with shades of violet, blue, and green, accented by hints of orange. The ring’s gallery is delicately detailed with scrollwork. This Art Deco period ring dates to circa 1930 and originates from France.

    Hallmarks: Dog’s head (french hallmark for platinum) and maker’s mark.

    Gemology and beliefs: Opals come in various types, with noble opals being the kind that exhibits play-of-color. This captivating effect is caused by tiny, uniformly sized spheres of silica. When light hits these spheres and is refracted, it produces a dazzling display of colors on the opal’s surface. In contrast, common opals lack this play-of-color, as their spheres are disordered and of varying sizes, giving them a milky appearance. Opals have been associated with the power of invisibility in folklore, earning them the title “Patronus forum” (patron of thieves) during the late Middle Ages.

A small box designed as a powder compact, opening to reveal two compartments: one containing face powder accompanied by an ostrich feather applicator; the other capable of holding a small lipstick. A verre églomisé mirror allows for makeup application. The box is delicately adorned with fine stripes on the lid and base. The ends of the box are enamelled in black. The push-button is made of platinum and embellished with two baguette-cut diamonds, each weighing 0.05 carats. An antique Cartier London powder compact, circa 1930, London.

    Hallmarks include the owl, 18, crown, tiger’s head (London), J.C, letter T, and Cartier London mark above the mirror.

A rare rectangular-shaped pendant watch, enameled on one side in green color and adorned with a blossoming branch motif influenced by Japanese Arts. The four flowers are represented by 23 rose-cut diamonds. The four corners of the jewel are set with four rose-cut diamonds. The bale is richly decorated with 6 rose-cut diamonds set in platinum. The back of the jewel reveals an Arabic numeral dial arranged in reverse, ensuring that the time is visible when the piece is worn as a pendant. Art Deco pendant watch, circa 1930.

    Art Deco diamond locket in gold 18 karats (750) and platinum. This rare medallion is a photo holder, fully enamelled in black matte on both sides and its bail. It is decorated with a circular pattern in platinum, set with 42 rose-cut diamonds. The medallion opens and can conceal a photograph, which is wedged under a thin glass plate and a gold circle (present inside the medallion). On the two inner faces, the gold has been polished in successive rounds that form a pattern. The clasp of the jewel is decorated with black enamel and set with four rose-cut diamonds.
