The whole is surrounded by 24 brilliant-cut diamonds set in an octagon and highlighted by a pearl setting. The geometrical style of this ring resumes the codes of the Art Deco jewellery of the 1930s. The pendant features a quotation from a letter from Rosmonde Gérard, the poetess, to her love Edmond Rostand, the author of Cyrano de Bergerac: “For, you see, every day I love you more, Today more than yesterday and much less than tomorrow”. Inspired by these two lovers, Alphonse Augis used these verses in his “médailles d’amour”, condensing them to “+ qu’hier – que demain”. Large vintage French medal, circa 1980.
