Victorian snake brooch

Interesting antique brooch depicting a snake whose eyes are adorned with diamonds, it is rolled up on itself forming a three-lobed pattern.

Description

Victorian snake brooch in 18 karat yellow gold twisting around itself, finely chiseled motif depicting the scales. A blue imitation stone (garnet-glass doublet) on the head of the reptile. Eyes adorned with little diamonds. A hook is present on the back, probably to support a small pocket watch. French work from the 19th century, Victorian era.

Two eagle’s head hallmarks, silversmith’s mark erased, numbered on the pin.
