Description
Enamel barrel clasp pendant in 18 karat rose gold (750). Crafted from an antique regional clasp, this pendant takes the form of a barrel or cylindrical shape with six facets. Three of the facets are adorned with enamel decorations: one features a black and white enameled hunting dog in a natural scene, the second depicts a black and blue enameled bird of paradise framed by blue flowers, and the third is decorated with an intricate floral branch. The remaining three facets are blank cartouches. At the end of the clasp, there’s a cruciform notch into which a missing catch would have been inserted to “lock” the jewelry. A bail has been added to the piece to convert it into a pendant. The original clasp dates back to the 19th century in France.
Dimensions (including the bail): 25 x 8.6 mm.
Condition: Surface abrasions, enamel losses, small indentation.
Weight: 1.72 gr
