Victorian French enamel foiled paste cross pendant in silver. This cross is in silver with filigree decoration, forming a cross adorn with paste faceted pink glasses on spangles meant to have a look of pink topaz. A black enamel decoration with white dots covers the entire pendant. A glass bead adorns the upper part of the composition. The bezels are completely closed. Georgian mourning hair ring in 9k pink gold. An antique locket ring keeping a braid of hair enclosed behind glass crystal. It is framed by a halo of 16 seed pearls and the settings is formed by two separated strands adorned with an openwork pattern. Jewel from the beginning of the 19th century, circa 1810-1830.

Hair jewellery was very popular in the 18th and 19th centuries. Jewellery with compartments made it possible to keep a lock of hair of a lover or a missing person (later it will be the photograph). It can be a medallion or a ring for example. There are also jewels made from hair, such as necklaces, chains, bracelets and rings. These hair jewels are worked like textiles: they are woven, embroidered, twisted. A whole craft industry developed around this new fashion, which lasted until the end of the 19th century.

Solitaire diamond ring made of yellow 18 karats gold set with a Perruzzi cut diamond weight 0,20 carat, with a whirl prong setting.
At the end of the 17th century, Vincenzo PERUZZI invented the diamond’s cut with 58 facets. Named the “Peruzzi cut”, it is similar to the brilliant cut by a number of facets and by its proportions.

Biarritz Art Nouveau brooch in yellow gold 9 karat. The brooch takes the form of a shell (a mussel) on which it is written “Biarritz” in black and blue enamel. Around, a floral decoration colored by green enamels and a pearl inlaid in relief. Brooch of the early twentieth century, Art Nouveau period. French jewel.

Historical point: since 1784, the sea baths of Biarritz are in fashion and Napoleon bathes there in 1808. Later, the Empress Eugenie, who came several times with her family, convinced her husband Napoleon III to make it their holiday resort. Following the construction of the Biarritz salt baths, the city experienced a great boom in the years 1900-1920 thanks to the international tourism that developed there. Coco Chanel opened her 3rd boutique there in 1915.
