More information on these earrings : These earrings are also called “lighters” because they take the shape of the object of the same name, and were very popular in the Auvergne and Dauphiné regions of France in the 19th century.
Augis Love medal medium size in 18 karat yellow gold. A medal with modern lines, where the “+” sign is highlighted by a diamond, the “-” sign by two calibrated synthetic rubies. The pendant features a quotation from a letter from Rosmonde Gérard, the poetess, to her love Edmond Rostand, the author of Cyrano de Bergerac: “For, you see, every day I love you more, Today more than yesterday and much less than tomorrow”. Inspired by these two lovers, Alphonse Augis used these verses in his “médailles d’amour”, condensing them into “+ qu’hier – que demain”. Vintage medal pendant, medium resized, circa 1980.
