Learn more about tubogas jewellery: tubogas originated from a type of tube in the industrial world, created in 1881 and composed of articulated bands allowing gas to circulate under pressure. In the 1940s, the jewellery world rediscovered this invention and applied it to goldsmithing using gold hinges made flexible by a spring system hidden in the mesh. The jewel becomes flexible, it stretches and relaxes. Tubogas took off with the iconic Serpenti watch by Bulgari. Later, inspired by Bulgari, the Parisian jewellers Fouquet, Mauboussin, Boucheron and Van Cleef & Arpels followed in the footsteps of tubogas.
