History of jewelry: Retro jewellery is characterised by the use of yellow gold, the development of 3-D volumes and by the rarity of precious stones. Here we have a perfect example of such jewellery: a large volume and the use of synthetic rubies – thus compensating for the lack of gemstones available on the market after the war. The Second World War had a considerable impact on jewelry fashion during this period, sweeping away the taste for “white”, the geometric “flat” and the abundance of gems of Art Deco.
