The two lines meet in the center at the level of two larger old-cut diamonds. One weighs approximately 0.33 carat, the other 0.10 carat. The brooch is in platinum and the clasp is in white gold. The “+” sign is set with a rose-cut diamond; the “-” sign is decorated with two calibrated synthetic rubies. The words “que hier” and “que demain” are embossed. This inscription refers to a quotation from a letter from Rosmonde Gérard, the poetess, to her love Edmond Rostand, the author of Cyrano de Bergerac: “For, you see, every day I love you more, Today more than yesterday and much less than tomorrow”. Inspired by these two lovers, Alphonse Augis used these verses in his “médailles d’amour”, condensing them to “+ qu’hier – que demain”. The medal is surrounded by a laurel garland.
