Description
French regional citrine earrings in yellow gold 18 karats. Earrings decorated with a foiled facetted oval citrine, in a closed setting. These citrines are called “Catalan Brazils”, they are from Perpignan area. Earrings from the middle of the 20th century, South East of France. Regional jewellery.
Eagle head hallmark and LB goldsmith hallmark

These sleepers are matched with a ring (here) and a bracelet (here) visible on the last photograph.
At that time, the most commonly used stones in Roussillon were garnets, citrines or Aurillac topaz. A red straw was placed under the stone to give it changing light reflections, these stones are called “Brésils”, also called “Oli i Vinagre” in Roussillon.
