Victorian brooches
In the 19th century brooches were very popular, Napoleon III brooches were often decorated with pearls, diamonds, cameos and enamel. They were also found in England, during the reign of Queen Victoria. We then saw mourning brooches, with hair, black enamel, names engraved in homage to the deceased. At the court of France the brooch was an essential accessory, it was part of the front of women's bodices, it served as a messenger for lovers.
