Long necklaces
Sautoirs are long necklaces, usually falling beyond the chest, sometimes to the waist or lower. They can be simple, made of fine chain, or more ornate with fine pearls, gemstones or pendants.
Some are made of interwoven mesh and can be worn in different ways, in a single length or in several wraps for a voluminous effect.
Very popular in the 1920s/1930s, they remain a staple of current fashion, perfect for highlighting an antique medallion or creating a chic draped effect. Did you know they are also called "opera necklaces"?
