Choker necklaces
Chokers are short necklaces, worn directly at the neck, usually 30 to 35 cm. They can be made of gold, coral, or decorated with diamonds. Also called chokers, these necklaces appeared as early as the 18th century, often in the form of ribbons decorated with pendants or letters, and gained popularity in England in the 19th century.
During the Belle Époque and Art Nouveau periods, chokers made a big comeback, sometimes nicknamed "dog collars" in France, and were adorned with fine pearls, precious stones, lace and diamonds.
