Marquise rings
Marquise rings take their name from the Marquise de Pompadour, of whom King Louis XV was very fond. He asked to have a diamond cut that evoked the shape of his favorite marquise’s smile. These are rings in the shape of an elongated rhombus, which follow the shape of the finger.
The marquise ring is often confused with the cluster ring, because the cluster ring is also called pompadour ring. But the marquise is not a pompadour, except for Mme la Marquise de Pompadour. Did you follow?
