Photo lockets
Photo holders and lockets belong to the category of pendants. Generally quite old, they often date from the 19th century and were used to keep a photo (or an item) of a loved one. They can open in two or even three parts. Indeed, some have two photo compartments.
They come in all shapes: oval, round, heart-shaped. Some are encrusted with hard stone engraved with the owner's initials, others are simply gold. Most of the time they are encrusted with either small pearls or small stones (rubies, garnets) but can also be enameled. The most common enamels are blue and black. These photo holders also sometimes have hair: they are then mourning jewelry in which a physical memory of the deceased is kept.
Photo holders and lockets are pretty jewels to accompany a chain or to keep a souvenir. Here is the selection of Maison Mohs
