Victorian enameled mourning ring
This jewel has already gone to its new home
Victorian enameled mourning ring made of 18 karats yellow and white gold.
This mourning ring is openworked with an alternation of color between black enamel and the butter color of the gold.
In the center an old-cut bezel-set diamond is highlighted by white gold on a black background. The ring is decorated with openwork foliage and bears the inscription "In memory of". Inside the name Ernest is engraved. This is a piece of mourning jewelry in memory of a loved one, Ernest.
English work between 1838 and 1890.
Hallmarks: a crown for the city of Sheffield in England; "18" for the 18 karat titration; JF for the probable manufacturer James Fenton & Co; the “Queen Victoria” head duty mark stamped between 1838 and 1890
