Large Jeannette Cross pendant
This jewel has already gone to its new home
Large Jeannette cross in 18 karat gold with faceted arms on both sides and oval tips. The ends are decorated with an arabesque pattern. In the center of the cross, a rose blossoms in a diamond-shaped cartouche. The upper part of the jewel is in the shape of a fleuron and holds a large ring to wear it as a pendant. The cross is hollow, which explains its light weight. It seems that Jeannette crosses were worn from 1783 by all classes, then only by peasant women. This model is old, the fashion of wearing regional crosses having died out around 1870. Jeannette cross, circa 1820-1830, regional French jewel.
