Neo-Renaissance Wiese pendant

Sale price€2.900,00

Neo-Renaissance Wiese pendant in silver and vermeil. Large medallion centered with a gilt silver (vermeil) plaque depicting Hercules strangling the Nemean lion in bas-relief. This motif is surrounded by an antique silver structure (a technique very fashionable at the end of the 19th century), decorated with scrolls and flowers, and set with baroque pearls, including one larger pearl pendant. The bail is decorated with raised dots. The reverse of the medallion bears the inscription "August 12, 1885 - July 4, 1874-1899" and likely commemorates a professional jubilee. The medallion is signed WIESE. Neo-Renaissance pendant, second half of the 19th century, by Jules Wièse.
