Victorian Dog cristal compass pendant

Victorian Dog cristal compass pendant in 18 karat gold. Antique pendant forming a compass inside which an arrow turns on the cardinal points to indicate North. It is protected by glass. The reverse of the pendant is adorned with an Essex crystal with a dog motif. This is a rock crystal hollowed out and painted by hand, creating a relief effect. The outline of the jewel is decorated with a chiseled frieze. The ring holding the bail is formed by volutes. Compass pendant, circa 1900.
