Dropsy Medal, Raphael's Angel in 18-karat gold. Circular baptismal medal decorated with a cherub, Raphael's Angel. It is so named because it is taken from the painting of the Sistine Madonna, painted by Raphael in the 16th century. The reverse of the medal is decorated with a small knot. The medal is signed by the engraver and medalist Emile Dropsy. Baptismal medal, early 20th century, France.
