French gimmel ring
This jewel has already gone to its new home
French gimmel ring in 18 karat gold. The band is formed of two smooth, undecorated rings. It opens and closes with an ingenious interlocking mechanism. Inside, the inscription "JM CE UNIS" and the wedding date "17 9bre 1855" (for November 17, 1855) are visible. These secret-lock wedding bands were very popular in the mid-19th century.
