Cloisonné enamel bird brooch
This jewel has already gone to its new home
Cloisonné enamel bird brooch in 18 karat gold. This circular brooch depicts a pink, gray, and blue bird of paradise, set with rose-cut diamonds. The bird perches on a flowering branch against a plain sky-blue background. Inspired by Oriental and Far Eastern themes, these late 19th-century jewels showcase exceptionally fine enamel work. The brooch was created by Augustin Lahure and is reminiscent of the techniques and subjects used by Falize Frères, for whom he also worked at the end of the 19th century. Enamel brooch, circa 1885, France.
Eagle head hallmark and hallmark of the goldsmith Augustin Lahure (active in Paris from 1886) who worked for Jules Brateau and Falize Frères.
