Belle Epoque enamel poppy brooch

Belle Epoque enamel poppy brooch in 18 karat gold and silver plique-à-jour enamel. This late 19th-century brooch depicts a poppy flower with red petals in plique-à-jour enamel, embellished with 20 flat-cut rose-shaped diamonds. The center of the flower and the pistils are in yellow gold. The delicately crafted silver leaves extend slightly beyond the outline and are punctuated with small flat-cut rose-shaped diamonds. The backing is detachable, perhaps for use on a hairpin or tiara. Antique brooch, Belle Époque, circa 1890, Hippolyte Porlier.
