Stud earrings

Stud earrings are a type of very short earrings, which do not hang over the lobe. They are secured with a butterfly or screw clasp. Stud earrings first appeared in the 19th century. They can be only in gold or set with stones. We find stud earrings in the shape of flowers, animals or geometric shapes.

The paillon is a yellow coloured metal sheet giving a special luminous effect to the diamond. The diamond is set with 6 silver claws. Pair of antique earrings, from the end of the 18th century.

    Stud earrings diamonds in yellow gold 14 karat. These earrings are rectangular in shape, in the center of which are set two brilliant-cut diamonds weighing approximately 0.09 carat each. Preowned jewelry, 20th century.

    Marked “14k” on the earrings and clasps, “Birks” hallmark on each earrings. Birks is a jewellery house opened in the heart of Montreal in 1879.
