Art Nouveau Virgin Mary medal in 18 karats yellow gold. Mary is represented in profile and haloed in a pearled gold outline, in the center of an oval medal. The medal is decorated with natural pearls all around. A white stone imitating diamond adorns the upper part of the medal. On the reverse side, the medal has a floral decoration on the upper part. The other half is blank and can be engraved. Medal made by M. Jampolsky in France, during the Art Nouveau period (Edwardian).
Eschyle Michel Jampolsky (1874-?) is a Russian sculptor and engraver on medals. He arrived in France at a very young age. He became a pupil of famous French medal makers such as Daniel Dupuis, Hubert Ponscarme and Félix Rasumny. He is known for his work in bronze, and on rare occasions he uses his talent for jewellery. These medals and sculptures were presented at the “Salon des artistes français”.
