Description

Victorian Garnet Snake Brooch : Victorian snake brooch (Napoleon III period, second half of the 19th century) in gold and garnets, very nicely executed.

Made from 18 karats yellow gold, the body of the snake twists on a finely chiseled three-lobed pattern, sprinkled with 3 garnets, one of which is more important.

Delicate patterns and tiny details are engraved on the snake’s head and upper body.

A hook is present on the back, probably to support, a long time ago, a small pocket watch.

Traces of maker’s mark and guarantee, French work.

Condition : Functional attachment. Shocks on the snake’s tail. Oxidization traces caused by the alloy
