Description
Signet intaglio ring in 18k pink gold. This signet ring is set with an intaglio hematite on which symbols are engraved, hard to interpret: a cross, a dandelion (?), the letter N (?). This intaglio is set in a closed setting. Its contrast with the rest of the setting is striking: the black and metallic aspect of the stone combines perfectly with the smooth and pink aspect of the setting. Jewel from the middle of the 19th century.
It may be a magic intaglio. These stones had several uses: they could be good luck charms or used as seals. Their owner attributed to them a supernatural power of protection, like an amulet, hence the name “magic intaglio”.
