Description
Egyptian lotus enamel ring in 18 karat yellow gold (750). Vintage ring decorated with a round cartouche with a lotus flower enamelled in light and dark blue, in a red surround. The shoulders are figured with the Egyptian cross of life, also known as the “Ankh cross”, with a deep blue enamel decoration partially missing. Vintage ring from the 1960s. Thoses symbols represent regeneration, rebirth and daily transformation.

Historical point: Egyptomania is a phenomenon that describes the fascination for the culture and history of ancient Egypt. It is mainly during Bonaparte’s Egyptian Campaign (1798-1801) that the art of the pharaohs began to fascinate artists and collectors. Afterwards, it is with the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922, in the middle of the Art Deco period, that the fashion of Egyptomania is revived, which will then invade the world of fashion and advertising. This is mainly reflected in the shape of palmettes and lotus, the motifs in the head of pharaoh, beetle, wings of falcon.
