Four chains set with rubies hold three pendants also enamelled with black triangles. The whole jewel has 86 faceted oval rubies, totaling approximately 1.21 carat. The suspended parts are mobile. Brooch from the Retro period, 1940s-1950s.

The medallion opens and bears the inscriptions “souvenir de mon excellente mère” (in memory of my excellente mother) and “26 septembre 1869”. A photo and a lock of hair can be slipped inside the jewel and protected by glass vent. It is a jewel of feeling, a jewel of mourning to remember a loved one who has passed away. The locket feels rich in hand with its substantial weight (22.5g) and its large size. Antique locket, French Second Empire period, Victorian period, France.
